How to install sandwich wall panels

The panels can be placed either vertically or horizontally, giving the building a finished and aesthetically pleasing appearance.

Preparatory work

Before installing the sandwich panels it is necessary to familiarize yourself with the design and installation documentation, check the layout of the elements and specify the order of installation, the direction of laying the panels.
Before starting work, it is necessary to make sure that all the necessary materials, including fasteners, are available on site. Self-tapping screws are used to fasten the panels. The trim elements (different types of trims, moldings, etc.) are installed with semicircular head self-tapping screws. The number of screws required is calculated based on the wind load, the position of the panel on the wall and additional construction requirements. The general recommendation is to use screws with a minimum spacing of 400 mm.
It is important to prepare the surfaces on which the panels will be fixed: clean them, make sure they are level, make a mark, indicating the location lines of the panels. At the project location (on the plinth), install the plinth cover, support the curved profile (beam, corner, etc.), lay the mineral wool.

Installation in vertical position

Vertical installation should start from the corner of the building and, as a rule, from the plinth. If the height of the panels is less than the height of the building, after starting the installation from the plinth, continue in separate rows up to the required height. The joint between the levels must be protected with an expansion joint.

Once the wall panel has been lifted and the horizontal and vertical planes of the panel have been checked, it is necessary to press them against the straps and secure them. Fastening should start from the top of the panel to avoid breakage.
After fixing the first panel, the next panel must be mounted in the same corner, but on the adjoining wall. The fastened panel lock must be sealed with a special sealant for exterior works. When inserting the next panel into the sealed lock, it is important to ensure that sufficient force is applied when joining neighboring panels.

Installation in horizontal position

It is necessary to align the position of the panel before fixing it. The closure is sealed with sealant before the panels are joined. The next panel is installed with the groove facing downward with respect to the previous panel.
If the panels are placed with the groove facing upwards, moisture will penetrate the panel and cause its destruction.

Finishing work

To ensure that the structure meets thermal and acoustic insulation requirements and is durable, it is necessary to ensure the tightness and airtightness of the panel joints.
Sealing end joints (in case of vertical arrangement) and vertical joints (in case of horizontal arrangement) of panels, basements, windows, door openings around the perimeter can be sealed with mineral wool or foam.
The joints should be decorated with trim strips according to the project. The installation is carried out by overlapping from bottom to top. This prevents moisture from penetrating the interior of the panel and the building. For the same purpose, the joint surfaces between the overlapping plates and the panels are treated with sealants to prevent gaps.
